Fifteen years ago, the city of Weston was merely a plan on paper, drawn up by the Arvida Corporation as a 10,000-acre Hometown of the Future. But since homebuilding began in 1985, Weston has attracted more than 38,00'0 residents who enjoy a lavish greenery, numerous lakes and waterways, acres of parks, and attractively landscaped boulevards.

     Perhaps Weston's biggest attraction, though, is its location right at the intersection of 1-75, 1-595 and the Sawgrass Expressway. Many residents commute to jobs in Miami-Dade County, downtown Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton to the north.

In recent years, the city has seen dramatic growth in its shopping areas, restaurants, office parks and cultural amenities that were lacking in Weston's early years. A large-scale Weston Art Festival, held in November, is one of the city's main cultural events.

Weston has a wide variety of attractive neighborhoods, including Windmill Ranch Estates, whose large lots and custom homes draw South Florida sporting and entertainment celebrities, as well as business and civic leaders.
