Biscayne
It's hard to believe that Key Biscayne is just 10 minutes away from downtown Miami. This lush island community, connected to the mainland by the Rickenbacker Causeway has "a laid-back, tropical ambiance." Sandwiched between Cape Florida State Park and Crandon Beach (one of the region's most popular beaches), the village of Key Biscayne has a population of 9,400. Once the winter vacation home of President Richard Nixon, Key Biscayne now attracts wealthy families from Latin America, The Caribbean, and Europe. New developments in Key Biscayne include Residence of Grand Bay and The Ocean Club, two large-scale condominium and single-family home projects east of Crandon Boulevard. Elsewhere on the island are single-family homes dating from the 1950's, new multimillion-dollar waterfront estates and high-end condominiums. The Key has its own shopping district, and numerous recreational facilities, including The Links, a public golf course that hosts the Royal Caribbean Senior PGA Tournament, and a year-round tennis center that is home to the annual Nasdaq 100 Open tournament. |
